Holiday Ideas in Spain

Beach in Costa Blanca

Spain is a popular European destination. With its mix of natural beauty, balmy weather and vibrant culture, Spain becomes an exciting locale for holiday makers. Contrary to popular belief, there is much more to Spain than just beaches. The cultural and geographical diversity is a pleasant surprise to most visitors!

The country is divided into several autonomous regions and Madrid is the capital of the nation. Each region has its own unique cultural traditions. Although most destinations in the country are popular among tourists, some cities are more popular than others! These include Madrid, in central Spain, Barcelona, which is a coastal city on the East coast, Granada, to the south, Seville, which boasts of stunning old architecture and Valencia, the home of the delicious Paella.

Some popular beaches and coast lines include Rias Altas, Rias Baixas, Costa Brava, Palma, and of course the party capital of the world, Ibiza. One other very interesting coast; incredibly popular with tourists and visitors is Costa Blanca to the East of Spain. The coast stretches over 200km, and there are all sorts of towns and villages lining the stretch. Alicante is a well known town on the coast, with beautiful boulevards and sun soaked beaches.

There are all kinds of accommodation available along this coastline. Sun soaked summers see a multitude of visitors, seeking a relaxing and pleasurable holiday. Spanish villas are a popular concept and many visitors love the idea of renting a villa for their stay. It tends to be a good option for family holidays as they offer flexibility and comfort and most importantly - the privacy of your own home.

Costa Blanca begins with the towns of Denia and Javea; just at the foot of the mountains. From here, the long and wonderful coastline starts and stretches across for miles. It extends southward all the way to Guardamar and Torrevieja.

Travel along the coast is hassle free as the highway continues all the way along the coast, making it easy to explore the entire region. There are delightfully small and quaint villages along the way as well as more popular destinations like the Terra Mitica, an entertainment park at Benidorm. Benidorm is itself a well known town, much loved by tourists for its vibrant night life.

While Benidorm may be a more urban town with its sky scrapers and modern buildings, towns like Altea preserve their traditional village flavour. Altea is also a popular destination for golf holidays with many golf courses and golf hotels. Altea is surrounded by hills which offer a terrific view of the coastline and the sea.

While the northern part of the Costa Blanca has mountains running parallel to the coast, the south abounds in sunny white sandy beaches lined with palms, and the soothing view of blue waters stretching out into the distance.

The diversity of the coast line makes it a place suitable for a variety of visitors. Be it those looking for a quiet and relaxing time, a fun filled family time, or a wild party holiday, Costa Blanca is sure to please them all.
